The village of Fruiz is located on one of the small hills that descend gently towards the Valley of Oka-Butrón. It is cut off from the neighbouring valleys by a number of low hills, crisscrossed since the Middle Ages by ancient tracks and paths.

With the exception of the centre, the population is scattered over a wide area, offering walkers a landscape predominantly made up of pastures, market gardens and areas of reforestation, dotted with small hamlets in the hamlets of Aldai,
Botiola, Mandaluiz, Andeko, Plakone, Batiz and Lotina. A large number of hikers and bicycle tourists choose this quiet area for leisure and sports activities. Near the town centre you can visit a place of great geological interest, a quarry with basalt structures, an exceptional find in the Basque Country.

Fruiz contains one of the most outstanding features of the historic heritage of Uribe, the Church of San Salvador, one of the few churches with Romanesque remains in our territory. It has one of the most interesting Romanesque facades in the whole of Bizkaia.
